Recommendation letters
No need to collect recommendation letters from Foreign governments that select and pay teachers'
salaries to come to the US.
Anyone can write and/or falsify a recommendation letter. "Phantom” universities in many countries (i.
e. India) charge fees for fake documents.
Recommendation letters are not a barometer of success in the US; even teachers with good
references can and do fail due to personality traits and a variety of uncontrollable circumstances.
Sufficient to obtain at least names and professional affiliation of 2-3 solid references including up-to-
date contact information on the teacher's application form. A refusal to list references or provide
working email addresses and phone nos. can be a red flag justifying disqualification, but it is rare.
